September 18, 2006 on 3:59 pm | In Local, News, Transport | No Comments“Dun Laoghaire residents will no longer have to produce a raft of documentation in order to renew their parking permits.” This was stated by Eugene Regan, Cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and Dail candidate (FG), who had requested a review of the current system.
To qualify for a resident’s parking permit one has to produce a raft of documents including a utility bill, insurance, driving licence and a tax disc. Council Opposition to Tara Towers Skyscraper
September 13, 2006 on 11:06 am | In Local, News, Planning | No Comments“Dun Laoghaire County Council is to lodge a formal objection with Dublin City Council in relation to the proposed 25 storey skyscraper proposed for the Tara Towers hotel site on the Merrion Road”. This was stated by Cllr. Eugene Regan, Cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire CoCo, and Fine Gael General Election Candidate, who tabled a resolution calling on the Council to express its serious concerns about this development.
Cllr. Regan welcome the unanimous endorsement of his resolution at the Council Meeting held on the 11th of September stating that “he will be now lodging an objection with the full authority of the Council.”
Cllr. Regan stated that “this development, which is being carried out by developers Bernard McNamara and Jerry O’Reilly, would involve the demolition of the Tara Towers Hotel and nine buildings on Merrion Road. Although the proposed development falls under the authority of Dublin City Council, situated as it is right on the boundary with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown, the Council has a legitimate interest in opposing this development.”
Cllr. Regan pointed out that “it is entirely unacceptable that a development almost twice the height of Liberty Hall should be considered for this residential suburb given the widespread adverse impact in the surrounding area.” Continue reading Council Opposition to Tara Towers Skyscraper…

September 7, 2006 on 11:09 am | In Local, News, Planning, Transport | No Comments“Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council will consider the report of the County Manager on the Monkstown Ring Road at its October and not September meeting as originally planned.” This was stated by Eugene Regan, Cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and Fine Gael General Election candidate, who stated this was to allow councillors more time to consider the County Manager’s report on the matter.
Cllr. Regan welcomed the fact that the matter was put back stating that “more time was needed if councillors were to make an informed decision on this important issue. What is important is that there will be a full review of the scheme and debate within the Council prior to the Manger taking any further steps to implement the project.” Continue reading Monkstown Ring Road Review…

Cllr. Regan stated “it was usually the case that the Council and An Taisce were on opposing sides, but this was one development in which both parties cooperated and fully supported. The mini-park or viewing platform and the islands were constructed from materials from the Rock Road redevelopment currently taking place, “ he added.
