Local Issues

As Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council I introduced a systematic approach to the provision of essential Council services, including street cleaning, graffiti removal and unblocking of roadside drains.

I prioritised the reconstruction of Pottery Road and Rochestown Avenue.

I ensured that the Blackrock Rock Road QBC is not made off limits to cars until this Government commits enough extra buses to make it work.

I remain determined to prevent private developments encroaching on our public green spaces. I believe the public is entitled to greater clarity and certainty in our planning laws.

I am working to ensure sensitive development of our coastline from Blackrock to Shankill as an amenity for the entire community, including the Dún Laoghaire Baths site which will have no residential or high rise element.

I will ensure rapid progress in the improvement of our parks, including those at Sallynoggin, Killbogget and Shanganagh.I am seeking major cost savings in the Council’s bin collection system in order to control the level of waste charges.

I will insist that developers fulfil their obligations in providing social and affordable housing.

I want to revitalise Dún Laoghaire Town Centre by re-opening the main street to one-way traffic and completing the Pavilion Plaza.
